Bluepoint Leadership Development

Konica Minolta

With over 37000 worldwide employees and its cutting-edge research programs, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (KMBS), USA, Inc., is a leader in document imaging. In 2012, for the fifth straight year, KMBS has been recognized as the #1 brand for Customer Loyalty in the MFP Office Copier Market by Brand Keys.

In April 2011, Rick Taylor was promoted to President and COO of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (USA). With a bold vision and aggressive growth goals, Taylor tasked Marilyn Mitchell, Director, Professional Development & Enterprise Learning to source and find a world class leadership development partner to design and deliver a groundbreaking initiative.

Mitchell spearheaded an extensive review of the leadership development market that included benchmarking with providers and organizations such as General Electric and Bersin By Deloitte. She judiciously assembled a senior leadership committee to guide the decision making process and ensure a direct connection to the business goals.

Key objectives included: integration of strategic acquisitions; shift from a transactional sales approach to a more broad based, high profit solutions and services provider; move from a task oriented managerial culture to a more leader-like culture; achievement of cross-pollination of ideas and nurturing of relationships between departments and functions; and underpin and drive an already established effort to “Inspire Customer Passion” through extraordinary customer and sales service.

The Bluepoint EDGE Leadership Development Initiative was formally launched in May 2012. The executive team led the way by participating in a special two-day version. This, combined with follow-up leadership coaching, positioned them well to support the deployment and desired outcomes of this initiative.

Directors and Managers followed and participated in a four-day version using the same model, content and LEI 360 assessment. Similarly, each participant was assigned a Bluepoint coach to continue the learning and build in accountability. The core model that the entire design is architected upon Bluepoint’s Leadership Essentials model.

REAL BUSINESS RESULTS

Over 150 leaders participated in EDGE in 2012 and the results and impact have been overwhelmingly positive. Multiple action learning projects were identified and launched driving real business results. Participants said they wanted more development, more often and this has resulted in the design and development of EDGE 2 for 2013. EDGE 2 focuses specifically on Communication and Execution – which is about creating a compelling communication and the execution of getting things done.
