Shoppers Drug Mart is Canada’s leading health, beauty and convenience retailer and has grown to a network of more than 1,240 Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix stores across Canada. Shoppers Drug Mart has successfully leveraged its leadership position in pharmacy and its convenient store locations to capture a significant share of the market in front store merchandise, including over-the-counter medications, health and beauty aids, cosmetics and fragrances, seasonal products and everyday household essentials.

In 2010, Shopper Drug Mart renewed their focus on Leadership Development with full support from the executive team. They were looking for a leadership development program for the leaders in their corporate head office which included the Executive Group, Middle Management, and Intro Management. The program would need to be integrated with their development model and would need to provide the next level of training for many of the participants who had previously attended Situational Leadership.

Bluepoint designed and delivered the High Impact Leader Series – a blended learning program that included:

  • Cross-functional cohort groups attending a series of 4 one-day workshops, typically delivered as 2 two-day sessions with 3-4 months between each session.
  • Action Learning Teams of 5-6 participants which met between sessions to discuss a series of questions about leadership topics and how to apply the learning at Shoppers Drug Mart.
  • A series of 12 Leadership Lessons emailed to participants and their managers once a week for 12 weeks after the in-person sessions were complete.
