Bill has more than thirty-five years of experience coaching executives, improving team functioning, strengthening organizations and creatively addressing problems and issues. His success spans a broad range of private, public, agency and not-for-profit organizations as a consultant. As an internal resource, he has worked in banking, higher education, industrial gas and chemicals, electric utility and a high-tech semiconductor company. In his assignments he has displayed adeptness and mastery from the board of directors to front line team members. Bill’s strong interpersonal skills, along with his innovative problem-solving, coaching, and teaching expertise, equip him with the capabilities to enable individuals, teams and organizations to achieve consistent, sustainable and relevant outcomes.

While Director of Global Organization and Leadership Development for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Bill led his team to recognition as one of Training Magazine’s “Top 100 Learning & Development Organizations” for four consecutive years. He was recognized by his peers with an “Excellence in Teaching Award” at the University of Southern Mississippi and by the American Society for Training & Development with their “Region III, Trainer of the Year Award.” His change work with organizations is profiled in two academic books about “learning organizations”, and a third book spotlights him as one of three outstanding facilitators of building a learning organization. He has presented at numerous international professional conferences and was cited twice by AMD as an “Author of Merit” for publication of his presentations. In 2017 he was named a Forbes Contributor.  While at AMD for sixteen years he designed and led the CEO’s Annual Strategic Alignment Forums for AMD’s global executive team.

Gardner has an undergraduate degree in finance and economics, an MBA and extensive PhD level course work in two programs at the University of Texas in Austin.
